I had an accident in a supermarket. They have offered me compensation. I am currently in receipt of incapacity benefit. The insurance company are required to disclose the sum they have offered to me to DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) they have requested my National Insurance number.

How much am I allowed to recieve from them while in receipt of incapacity benefit? will I get taxed on it?

Im in the UK

  1. if you are claiming your benefit because of the accident then they will take back the amount they have paid you.

if you was claiming the benefit before you had your accident and you have received no benefits coz of your accident then they can take nothing from your compensation.

if you are getting more than £4.700.00 then they will stop paying you benefits.

    hope this helps

  2. the other reply seems about right but do check it out on line or via the helpline. You should also ask the insurance company to clarify the situation as they ought to have done so anyway.
