after kaspersky 2009 trial has expired I didn't get another license or installed another antivirus. Then I surfed the net for a couple of days without any antivirus installed. I also download microsoft office 2003 from utorrent. And after I downloaded it, I installed it on the next day and when I restarted it there is this virus kavo.exe that shows on windows start up.

Now this is my question. Before my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Adapter can connect to my router but after two days having that virus my laptop cannot detect any connection but my other laptop can?

  1. I got sick of the virii and junk so I switched to Ubuntu linux.  you can find it at www.ubuntu.com it's easy to install, easy to use, and is very stable.

  2. Yeah. your laptop definitely has a virus.  What you can do is: 1. Install another anti-virus I recommend AVG, (it's free) Or, if the virus won't let you install an anti-virus software, try system restore.  Restore your laptop back 3-4 days. (1 week if you want).

To access the system restore, go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools.

For vista, simply search for System Restore (but it's located in the same place as in XP)

here is the removal tool for that  virus.  You might have to reinstall your router!

    It does warn though...

    kavo.exe Anti-Spyware Recommendation

Certain file extensions come from parasite applications. If you decide to remove unknown file extensions manually, you might do irreversible harm to your PC. We highly recommend you use a good spyware cleaner/remover to automatically track kavo.exe as well as other spyware, adware, trojans, and virus threats in your PC.

So get AVG antivirus and the AVG spyware..they are very good and free.

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB pendrive as small as 64 MB.

First use another PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus

and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

When the USB pendrive is ready.

Run the Clamwin Anti-virus that is installed on the USB drive to scan the infected PC.

Scan all hard drives for viruses.

  6. Torrents are usually unsafe and it's utterly fooilish to use torrents without a good antivirus and anti spyware.

I had this problem a week ago. But I had it solved. Follow the instructions below, and there it's gone !!!

Step 1: Use Windows File Search Tool to Find kavo.exe Path

    a. Go to Start > Search > All Files or Folders.

    b. In the "All or part of the the file name" section, type in "kavo.exe" file name(s).

    c. To get better results, select "Look in: Local Hard Drives" or "Look in: My Computer" and then click "Search" button.

    d. When Windows finishes your search, hover over the "In Folder" of "kavo.exe", highlight the file and copy/paste the path into the address bar. Save the file's path on your clipboard because you'll need the file path to delete kavo.exe in the following manual removal steps.

Step 2: Use Windows Task Manager to Remove kavo.exe Processes

    a. To open the Windows Task Manager, use the combination of CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.

    b. Click on the "Image Name" button to search for "kavo.exe" process by name.

    c. Select the "kavo.exe" process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.

Step 3: Detect and Delete Other kavo.exe Files

    a. To open the Windows Command Prompt, go to Start > Run > cmd and then press the "OK" button.

    b. Type in "dir /A name_of_the_folder" (for example, C:\Spyware-folder), which will display the folder's content even the hidden files.

    c. To change directory, type in "cd name_of_the_folder".

Once you have the file you're looking for type in del "name_of_the_file".

    d. To delete a file in folder, type in "del name_of_the_file".

    e. To delete the entire folder, type in "rmdir /S name_of_the_folder".

    f. Select the "kavo.exe" process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.

That's how you do it !!!

If you are still confused, then just google your question.

Or click this link : [Displays Google Search Results]

    Good Luck !!!

  7. First off no P2P is safe even utorrents.

Only a fool uses a computer without an AV.

    You have a worm - namely Worm.Win32.AutoRun.bhx

    How to remove:

    1 turn off system restore

2 boot in safe mode & run your up to date AV

    3. re boot if clean turn on system restore.

    WARNING:

    Jamie W link is un-safe.

  8. Weird that a pirated version of MS Office would give you a virus. Try calling Microsoft and see if they have a solution.

  9. SpyBot Search and Destroy should do the trick. Though I must say..that's pretty a high risk infection.

  10. The virus could affect your internet connection, though kavo is more a spyware then an actual virus.  Anyway, you should clean it off because its not a good thing to have.  First, I would download a free antivirus that  you dont have to worry about, I like Avast.  It updataes the definitions all the time, and like I said its free.   Second, here is how to remove kavo.

    http://www.spywareremove.com/removekavoe...

But if you install avast, and run it, that should work too.

  11. try www.adware-download.com

i think theres free anti virus technology on that.
