Help connecting to Xbox live?

My xbox always fails the IP adress test. I have My xbox connected to a laptop with the ethernet cable

Did you create a Network Bridge between the Wireless Network Connection you are using and the Local Area Connection....if not do so by

First enabling your Local Area Connection then.

Hold shift and click on your Local Area Connection and your Wireless Network Connection, or just highlight them both at the same time then right click then click on 'Bridge Connections'

When its done right click on the Wireless Bridge and then click on repair do this while the 360 is on...wait for about 2 minutes for both systems to recognize each other then try logging to xbox live again..

If your ip address is specific and you don't have a certain number of DHCP clients available then remove the wireless connection from the bridge by right click and clicking on remove from bridge, then go to your wireless connection in the network connections and right click it, then scroll down to 'Internet protocol' click it, then copy all the info you see shown there on a piece of paper. Ok add it back to the bridge.

Now right click Wireless Bridge, go to Properties then Internet Protocol, then click on Use the following ip address then type in the info you got from the wireless connection and the DNS(s)

After you are done repair the connection by right clicking Network Bridge and click on repair wait again for about a minute or two and then retry the test

Also put the ip settings on your xbox 360 to automatic, both the dns and the IP address

I had the same problem... No worries it is very easy to fix.. I will list steps. (Do this on the laptop)

1.Go to control Panel

2.Click on Network and Internet

3.Click on Network and sharing center

4.Look to the left  bar and click on Manage Network connections

5.Right click Wireless Network Connection

6.Then left click on properties.

7.If you need to click continue (Some computers make u some do not)

8.Click on sharin which is at top

9. Check the first box... Then make sure both boxes have a check mark in them..

It won't work going through a laptop. You have to connect the ethernet cable directly to a modem or buy the wireless xbox adapter if you have a wireless router.

NO YOU DONT HAME TO CONNECT IT TO THE LAPTOP IF YOU HAVE THE LITTLE BOX OF THE ENTERNET JUST CONNECT IT THE XBOX THERE THATS ALL
