I would really like a hamster. I'm fourteen years old, and for

some reason I'd like my own hamster. I want to prove to my

parent's I'm responsible enough to take care of it MYSELF,

and I wouldn't need there help? I already thought of telling

them It'd make me more responsible... but anything else I

could add in to make it more likely for them to agree with me??

  1. Well for starters, how about trying the following:

#1 Cleaning your room and making sure that it STAYS clean and tidy.

#2 Making sure that your homework is done and handed in on time.

#3 Sweep the floors in the living room and kitchen without your parents asking you to.

#4 Wash and/or dry the dishes.

#5 Do not fight and argue with your sisters & brothers.

#6 Eat what you are given and don't whine or make "yuck" faces when given it.

#7 Don't talk rudly to adults

#8  Always share with other kids.

#9 Go to bed when you are told to.

#10 Research the pet and breed you want to be 100% certain that it is the right one for you.

    # 11 Ask them about getting this new pet in a nice way and don't beg and whine about it.

I’m 100% sure that if you give those a try, they will see that you are serious about wanting to add a this pet to your life and family. :)

  2. first you have to prove you can be responisble, try asking your parents to wash the dishes and do odd jobs around the house without being asked.

To convince them say that, you would love and care for the hampster as if it was a child and that you wont ever ask them to clean the cage.

Tell your parents that YOU will buy the equipment and food, this helps alot

  3. just say you really would like one before you go to college and they only live two to three years.

Personally I'd get a guinea pig. they live outdoors they have great personalities and they are not asleep all dau and awake all night keeping you awake!

  4. Start doing more responsible activities. Clean up after yourself, wash your own dishes, keep your room clean, eat healthy, etc. Offer to help them whenever you get a chance. Like when they're doing house chores or shopping. Eventually, maybe within a few weeks, they'll ask you what you want and/or acknowledge the fact that you're being more responsible.

That's when you kindly ask them for a hamster and have a mature conversation about it. Read up about how to care for a hamster, and understand what responsibilities you'll have to take for it. Feeding it, cleaning up after it, etc. You have to show your parents that you're willing to do all of these things.

  5. Parents are always concerned about their childrens health....you have to be very clean and hygenic while caring about pets and you have to give them a lot of time too..........you must be able to be responsible for their upkeep
