Help!! demented dvd player?

i have a dvd player and i am convinced that it is demented.

for esample, wen i try 2 record 'THe Simpsons' there is no sound but wen i put it on standby sound comes back on .

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY THIS IS AND IF SO, HOW TO FIX IT??

  1. There are probably two cords switched in the wrong spot.  Just buy a new DVD player for $20.

    Actually, it sounds like your receiver has settings for Stereo or 6-Channel Stereo Surround.  Sometimes recordings in one type of audio format won't be playable in the other audio format because of the configuration of your connections (cables).

    You could have your DVD recorder pulling audio from the TV or receiver in 6-Channel Stereo and the receiver is actually sending it in plain stereo, or vice versa.  Check the connections to see if there is a different speaker output jack for these two options.
