  1. Good question. Have you seen his best movies, like "Do the Right Thing"? Read up on him on Wikipedia or whereever else, see what other people say about his work and his overall message: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spike_Lee

    Based on the part that says Controversy, Spike has a lot to say about racism in his movies and overall actions, I think that makes him a nationalist, since that's one of America's biggest issues, even today. In the movie Do the Right Thing, a black man gets killed by a white cop as he's simply trying to restrain him. That seemed to end the violence in the neighborhood, though. I think Spike was sending a message to the whole country about the ridiculousness of racism-inspired violence. I think he meant to say, in the end people die and no one remembers what started it all....

  2. I think Spike Lee explores the American experience, but does it through the experience of being a black American,  His characters face the same difficulties and problems as everyone else,  I think he asks are life's problems any different because I'm a black American
