  1. Craftsman truck series is 3rd highest series, Nationwide or Busch is 2nd highest  series, Sprint Cup or Nextel Cup or Winston Cup is top series in NASCAR. What determines it is quality and ability of drivers and money.

  2. 1- truck series is 3rd in line

2- Busch is 2nd in line for series

3- Nascar, Sprint/Nextel is the #1 in series

and there is no longer Winston Cup, Sprint/Nextel took it over..

  3. Sprint Cup is the new name for Winston Cup which also used to be Nextel Cup. It the top series in NASCAR sanctioned racing. The Nationwide Series in the new name for the Busch Series which is number 2 in the NASCAR Series.

Here are all the NASCAR sanctioned series in order of rank.

    Sprint Cup

    Nationwide Series

    Craftsman Truck Series

    NASCAR Canadian Tire Series

    NASCAR Corona Series

    Whelen All-American Series

    Whelen Modified Tour

    Camping World Series

  4. the winston cup was renamed the nextel cup back in 2004 and was renamed again this year to be the sprint cup.  it is the "top" nascar sanctioned series, has the "cream of the crop" when it comes to the drivers, and they run in what used to be called the "car of tomorrow (COT)" - a boxier, safer, more standardized version of the cars they have used in the recent past.  when speaking of money, this series is the top - it is the most expensive to compete in and it pays the largest amounts. drivers in this series are not only expected to be "the best of the best," but they also have the most "off-track" commitments - with driver appearances, testing, sponsor commitments, endorsements, etc.

the busch series was renamed the nationwide series this year (new sponsor) and contains a number of "regulars" who race there as their primary series.  there are also a number of sprint cup drivers who also run in that series - some full-time, and some just every now and then.  many of the drivers in this series are either "moving up" from the truck or other series, or have "moved down" from the cup series.  they have a different car - more similar to that used by the cup series last year, but with a smaller wheel base and fewer horsepower.  the costs here are somewhat less than those of the cup series teams, so sponsorship is cheaper, but the paydays are much smaller.

there is also the craftsman truck series - the third tier of the nascar sanctioned series. many drivers begin their "nascar" careers here, then move up to the nationwide or cup series.  many of the regular drivers in the series, however, race in this series primarily, and are often older drivers who have raced (and sometimes go back and race) in the other series.  as there are only 25 races per year in this series, and it is the least expensive and lowest paying of the series, drivers here generally have the fewest "off-track" commitments like appearances and sponsor commitments.

  5. sprint/winston cup is the top series, natonwide/busch, is second and craftsman truck is the third tier series in nascar.

  6. The Sprint Cup is the highest series and used to be called the Winston Cup. The Nationwide Series is the second highest series and used to be called the Busch Series. The Craftman Truck Series is the third highest series.

  7. Winston Cup is now Sprint cup it is the big boys, Busch is now Nationwide series which sounds like crape it is the guys who couldn't make it in sprint  cup or the guys who have just come up from the truck series.

  8. Well Sprint Cup is the highest class in nascar raceing, Nation wide is Second, Craftsmen truck is third, and Whelen is last. The classes are pretty much rankend into skill.
