  1. go to www.webmd.com..search diabetes or blood sugar, and read up on it..you really should go see your Dr

  2. There are good sugars and bad sugars.  Diabetics or those who are boarderline diabetic should eat the low glycemic foods.

Those would be and there are many others, but here are some.

Whole/cracked grains, whole grain bread & pasta, bran, sweet potatoes, peas, beans, plums, apricots, steamed asparagus & broccoli, peaches, mangos, oranges, grapes. dark chocolate with 60% cocoa or higher.

Powdered milk, regular milk has too high maltose in it, which is milk sugar.  No one needs it actually.

I make everything homemade has to avoid high sugar content, preservative, and additives.  No sodas of any kind.

Anything homemade will be better for you.  You can eat the same chocolate cake,, but it needs to be made from scratch, no box cake mixes either.

By doing this you are teaching your kids how to cook, and how to eat healthy.  Both my daughter and son cook and neither are overweight.  They exercise regularly too.  Besides this way, less sugar= fewer cavities.   I was not raised this way, but I wish I had been because I fight with my weight too.

My daughter and I make Christmas cookies, I make them their birthday cake still & she is 32.  I love it and my kids and for them I will keep them healthy the homemade way.

Also, here's a tip, when you eat some carb, also eat a fiber with it, so you readily digest it.

And the more colorful your food is, the better it is for you.

  3. "sugar" is a vague term, it techically inclused all carbohydrtaes which includes breadsm pasta, fruit, vegetables, grains etc. Its impossible to avoid ALL sugar. You should generally eat a modest ammount of carbs, trying to keep to the "healthy" carbs (whole grain products), vegetables. You can eat fruit in moderation and should probably avoud candy and sweets alltogether.

A dibetic diet also includes eating smart proteins, something low in fat and cholesterol. Fish and chicken are your best bet. Shellfish has high cholesterol and can be eaten in moderation. Red meat should be limited (maybe once-twice/week)

You can drink milk (low fat prefferably) and eat low fat cheeses and yougurts (not sweetened if possible)
