Although testing on animals has helped lead to medical advances...

Please no jokes. I need help telling why not testing on animals outbennefits the advances of medicine.

animals value their lives just as much as we do.

not all animals respond in the same way people do

6.5 BILLION people on the planet.. our own over population is the # 1 threat to our continued existance (according to the United Nations).. do we really need to continue to try and prolong our own lives?? or cure every disease effecting us??   (thats a bit harsh I know.. BUT we control the growth of EVERY other species on the planet.. and our own is the one that is going to cause the most problems)

..., scientists have found that in many cases they are poor substitutes for people.  The reactions of mice, rats, monkeys and other animals to different tests are not always consistent with the effects on people.  And new technology is making animal tests less necessary than ever before.  Many companies no longer do any animal testing at all.

...many of these medical advances could have been discovered without harming or killing animals.  Many animals are not enough like humans to truly confirm results with the tested animals will transfer to positive results with humans.  

Ex. One drug, I won't mention here, was tested on monkeys and proved to cause minor to severe congenital deformity in offspring.  The drug was STILL administered to pregnant women to reduce nausea!  As you may guess - the women had no idea about the tests results and MANY babies were born with debilitating deformities, missing limbs, and or died shortly after birth.

Ex. Animal testing is cheap, the animals cannot refuse to be test subjects AND as with the Rhesus monkeys - may carry illnesses that the animal is immune to but is fatal to humans ie. HIV / AIDS.
