  1. first of all dress professionally, keep a smile on your face and pay attention! tell them how much you love being active and interacting with kids! a big part is going to be patience because it's kids that you'll work with so when they ask you to describe your strengths or personality say things like you're friendly, outgoing, patient, active. just be positive and upbeat and of course be yourself!

  2. just be excited to have the opportunity to have an interview for a job taking care of kids and yada yada yada lol just be your self and wat every1 else says

  3. Write down why you think you would be perfect for this job. What makes you the perfect candidate? This will help you to narrow down what to say and focus more on the facts - you will look more polished and serious about the job.

Remember, working with children takes patience, creativity, attentiveness, and energy.

Also, in the gym, the parents will probably want you to interact with the children so the children aren't just sitting around watching videos.

Parents love for you to be involved. The worst childcare centers in gyms that I've seen have been when the associate is talking on the phone or to someone else while children are running wild or zoned out in front of a television.

Lastly, make a list of questions you have for the interviewer. For instance, what is the ration of children to providers? What happens when you need to use the restroom - who watches the children? What do you do in case of an emergency? What exactly does the supervisor expect of a childcare employee?

What is the average age range of children?

You can think of more while you are working on your list. While the interviewer may answer these without your having to ask during the interview, it's still good to be prepared and have a few questions of your own. This gives the appearance of preparation and professionalism.

Wear business casual clothes, keep the makeup professional and lowkey, no perfume, minimal jewelry, and make sure your hair is combed nicely - no ponytails or other casual styles.

    Good luck!

  4. say that you love working with kids and have experience babysitting youth camp etc

  5. Will it be perfect for you? Truly feeling that way will allow for the confidence to show through and that is a big plus!

Like others have said...dress professionally...maybe the staff people wear jeans..but don't to the interview...you don't want to overdress but you do want to show your professionalism.  You would be advertisement for the gym.

I agree completely with the one that mentioned what to do around the children.  :-)  I have yet to be on an interview or to interview another where the children were not involved at one point or another.  This is a perfect time to show that you are comfortable with the children and the basics of child development.  Getting down at their level is something I have looked for with everyone I come in contact with in an early childhood situation.

Ask questions yourself... ask about the policies and such...this shows your interest in the safe-keeping of the children.

Definitely be yourself... and be honest...if you don't know an answer to the question...don't make it up....it will come back to haunt you.  Interviewers like honesty.  Also show a willingness to learn if it is something your really have not had experience with.

Remember that they are going to most likely ask open-ended questions because they want you to talk.  :-)  That's when they learn most about a person!

    Good luck!

  6. -Make sure you say about all experience you have had-babysitting, family, work experience, past jobs.

-Even if last job wasnt childcare explain the responsibilities you have and how they apply to childcare eg: friendly ,responsible, quick learner etc.

    -Give references-preferably not family!

-Look up current childcare issues such as your opinion on new Early Years Foundation Stage, new legislations from government so you sound interested and prepared.

    -SMILE and have open posture.

-If you are in with the childre, get down to their level, smile, dont talk over their heads and dont interupt them! Be interested in them!

    -Compliment the setting :)
