I'm a freshman and I'm really troubled about how to choose my science classes in high school. I'm interested in learning about Biomedical engineering so thats probably going to be my major in college. So, considering about taking SAT subject test and SAT II and all of that, I'm asking for advice here about choosing my science classes.

I kind of want it like this:

freshman: biology

sophomore: chemistry

junior: AP/ Honors physics

With that schedule, I can take Biology SAT subject test in the freshman year while the material is fresh in my head. I'd like to take the subject tests early because I would be busy studying the SAT in sophomore and junior year.

But I'm wondering if I should take regular physics the freshman year and then take biology sophomore and then AP/Honors chem junior year.

Give some advice please!!

  1. Biomedical engineering seems to involve more Biology and Physics than Chemistry so AP Biology or AP Physics would probably be a better choice than AP Chem if that's what you intend to major in. Unless you'll be taking algebra 2 freshman year, I don't think it would be a wise choice to take Physics freshman year.

  2. At my school we weren't allowed to take biology as a freshman. We had to take a beginner class. I think it was called intergrated science and it was pretty easy. Just basic science. The onlly way we could take biology as a freshman is if we doubled up and took two sciences in one year. You should talk to the guidance counselor.
