i have a fantail goldfish and lately it kept laying on its back. So i figured it had swim bladder disease so I gave it some peas and it stopped laying down. Now it started lay down again and its not eating any peas so I just cleaned the tank and I dechlorinized it and its very shallow right now. What should I do? Should i wait until i get a ride and get some epsom salt? How long does my goldie have? I've had this little buddy for 4 years now and I can't lose him now. Please help.

  1. add rocksalt and dont feed for 3 days and observe if no changes there not much can be done.

  2. Hi, you might try fasting him for a couple of days followed by the cooked, shelled pea. Sounds like you're doing the right thing lowering the water level. Although your fish is still very much a youngster you are doing things correctly because 4 years is no mean feat-well done & best of luck.

  3. My fish had this and takes forever to cure. this happens because either the water parameters are really high or u overfed him.use a cook pea again and mash it then feed it to him. Salt won't cure swimbladder disease.
