  2. What about Painting?

You don't need to be a 'brainy' for that.  My son just left school and started a painting apprenticeship.  He also worked at Coles part time while at school.

...but why don't you ask your school about a school based apprenticeship, you get to cut 1-2 of your subjects out and work half of the week and school the other half (no matter what apprenticeship it is)   It's the best way to get ahead.  It may be different state by state, we are in Qld but your school career adviser sets it all up for you, might be worth talking to them about it.

bear in mind that apprenticeships pay like c**p !  You are looking on average $350 for the first year.  (with a grand or two bonus from the government on top, tax free)

But once you finish your apprenticeship for instance - eg: painting - if you go on to sub-contract you can get $1,400 + a week.   If you do plumbing on the other hand, double that amount + more.  Plumbers can earn more than Doctors these days.

    Good Luck with your goals!
