  1. you should wear volleyball shorts for the tryout.

i have always had trouble with my hand motion too.

you just have to practice practice practice.

& there really isn't an exact right way for you to do it.

there is the basic guideline, which is what they teach you, but each person might use a different way to be able to produce their best results.

i almost went to that camp.

i went to the madison uw one though.

i also loved being an outside hitter.

i was best at right side hitting though.

but they put me as a middle hitter.

so, if they want to put you as a setter, tell them you'd rather be a hitter, & hopefully it will all work out.

  2. timming the hardest part in hitting

you should play w/e the coaches tell you to tho and girls allways wear volleyball shorts well at least at my school

  3. Wear shorter basketball shorts.

You need a high jump and a full arm swing for spikes. Comes from your waist.

Best spike I saw was Hawiian style, uses a palm action fingers over top, curves the ball as it gets past first row blockers, and can be controlled.

Play where you best fit, nothing wrong with a setter until you can do a better spike/block.

  4. if youre right handed youre going to want to "guide" with your left hand straight up in the air (as if youre raising it to answer a question). with your right arm, pull it back until your hand is near your ear, and your elbow remains up. simply reach and snap. refer to this pic http://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/3/3b... i played OH and had a very good coach.
