What are these white looking bugs that are on my plants? They look like powdered sugar especially when a bunch get together on my plants. They have killed my mum plant and others as well. I have tried systemic poisoning, and liquid seven dust, and some homemade stuff. Nothing has worked. How do I get rid of these bugs?

  2. You have mealy bugs. Try spraying them off of your plants with a garden hose or applying an insecticidal soap on your plants.  That should do the trick.  If it is a minor infestation then you can use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol and rub them off. This works very well and I  guess you could do it with a major infestation as well if you have the time and patience. Mealy bugs are notorious for hiding in hard to reach spots like the axis of leaves and in the forks of leaf veins.  When you spray or treat a  plant make sure you get the product in all the hiding areas including between petals and on the underside of leaves etc.  I provided a site about mealy bugs.  Good Luck!
