Question:

Help formulating a thesis about fossil fuels and alternative energy?

I have a thesis that I wrote which is: Renewable resources, especially solar, are costly and not as reliable, but, they serve as a better means of cleaner air and less dependency on fossil fuels such as foreign oil.

Could a better thesis be formulated about this topic? I need your ideas, thoughts, opinions.

thank you.

  1. America has gone from wood to coal to oil in its energy use.  Our energy consumption goes up every year.  We need to get our energy either directly from the sun, or from the earth, and let the earth collect it from the sun.

In america, some parts of the country almost always has wind.  and some places have sunshine 80+% of the time.

  2. Here's a couple of ideas.

    1.  The "Worlds Cleanest Car" that runs on compressed air.

" BBC News is reporting that a French company has developed a pollution-free car which runs on compressed air. India's Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year.

The air car, also known as the Mini-CAT or City Cat, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 200 km on a 1.5 euro fill-up -- roughly 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000.

The car features a fibreglass body and a revolutionary electrical system and is completely computer-controlled. It is powered by the expansion of compressed air, using no combustion at all, and the exhaust is entirely clean and cool enough for use in the internal air conditioning system."

    2.  Car runs on water.

  3. Actually, renewables are less expensive these days, and getting even cheaper as the technology improves. How can you call the sun unreliable? Renewables may be intermittent, but the total supply is unchanging. Also, renewables put no cash in the pockets of arab terrorists.

  4. Maybe check into the construction industry.  They are capable of building homes that have next to nothing on energy consumption and are solar powered.  There is a firm that builds and designs the in the Flagstaff Arizona area.  Also, check into electric car and do a comparison with them.  Hope this helps.

  5. I do not totally buy into the green thing and here is why? For every action there is a opposite and equal reaction. What am I trying to say with this? For every new and green fuel or green system we invent there is an opposite danger that will come of it. Maybe not right now but latter and that is important for our grandchildren. Take the Toyota Prius for example. We a saving the air by reducing fuel emissions right? However, when do we hear about the dangers of dry cell batteries, like the huge one they use in the Prius? In twenty years when 90 percent of the cars on the road are hybrid's what are they going to do with all these very dangerous huge dry cell batteries that the Prius uses? Ever thrown away a very small triple A battery in the trash and think nothing of it? Your not suppose to and that is because radio batteries of any size are dry cell batteries and dry cell batteries are very dangerous to our environment.

My point with this? You could form your thesis around: Everything we fix, the opposite reaction to this somehow posses a danger either now or for our grandchildren. What can we do now to be more conscious and diligent of this by product effect to help our children in the future? Sort of a getting our head out of the sand and quit pretending the future is protected buy driving a Prius today. Or something along those lines.

The Prius is just an analogy to help you get what I am trying to say.

  6. Fossil fuel is actually made from fossil plants. The plants capture the sun's energy and store it for future use. Therefore the fossil fuels are renewable or recycled by Mother nature.
