  1. It is a question all couples face.  My wife and I came to the decision for her to stay home and raise our children.  It has been very difficult on one full-time salary, but they are years and moments that you never get back.  My wife now teaches at a local college in the evening when I get home.  Look at all options before settling on daycare, you may have to think outside the box and make financial sacrifices if possible.

  2. First off, Your state should have a Department of Human Services, and by calling this department, you should be able to retrieve a list of registered daycares in your area.  If they are registered they are mandated by the state and checked on.  I would start here to find someone.

Secondly, even tho your kids can't talk, you can still be aware of what's going on by checking over your kids and voicing your questions and concerns to the daycare provider.  If something feels funny, press for more, or pull your kids out.  Use your gut instinct.  It's always hard to leave your kids with someone else.  Good luck!

  3. Consider a day care center.  They have more than one person in each classroom and the help is generally better trained and screened.

  4. How about day care? I did the math and it ended up being about $3.00 an hour for my child to be at a day care center. It seems like alot when you pay the weekly bill, but if you break it down to an hourly rate, it's cheaper than hiring a private sitter. The cost includes meals, other kids for your child to play with, and the staff most likely have undergone a background check.
