  1. The Princeton Review rates BC's academics at 88 so the academics are not as challenging as some of the top academic schools like College of the Holy Cross where the academic rating is 98.

Temple's academic rating is 76 so it is significantly lower than BCs but not as dramatically different as it would be if you were considering a school like Holy Cross.

I think I would stay at Temple and get the high GPA and kick butt on the GMAT and you will be in great shape for MBA programs.

  2. I'd say the 3.7, especially if it's combined with a high GMAT score and good work experience, and if you're taking the toughest courses Temple has to offer in your field of study.  BC may be slightly better, but it's not going to give you the kind of boost, say, Wharton would.  If you're otherwise happy at Temple, concentrate on your grades and extracurricular leadership, get a solid internship and a good first job, and you'll be fine.

  3. Why do you think you'd do so much worse at BC? It's not an intense school.

When you're talking business, the school you go to matters in a way it wouldn't in engineering or medicine. First, it matters because you will need to work a few years before going for an MBA and where you work matters. You'll have access to better jobs graduating from BC. BC isn';t a target for investment banks, but it ranks just below the target schools with employers and some very good jobs are to be had through their alumni network, especially in Boston.

Second, look at a list of schools attended by any class at Harvard, Wharton or any top 10 MBA program. Top colleges abound. While you'll certainly see kids from many levels of college, a solid majority will be from very top schools.

If you have the prereqs for BC's business school, you should also apply to some other business programs like NYU Stern, UMichigan and Berkeley. The latter 2 start their business programs junior yer so are good fits for transfers. Those 3 programs would land you even better jobs than BC.
