  1. Here is a whole page of ideas:

This council also has worksheets to use

  2. I know someone who did their project by working/volunteering at an animal shelter (much harder than it sounds), someone else volunteered to work for United Way in childcare, and another worked as a volunteer at the zoo

    good luck   :)

  3. i dont have any ideas off the top of my head (ill try and answer you later) but whatever you do.. don't do a "donation thing". i got my girl scout gold award about 2 years ago now, and it bugged me so much when the girls collected blankets, or toys or whatever.. youre not doing any work!! for my project, i volunteered my time at an elderly home. i was the "bingo girl" among a few activities in the game room, i helped them with errands they needed done (if they couldn't drive or had no family close by), i watered their plants they couldn't reach in their rooms, i read one guy the sports page every other day, and a few other things.

try and do something YOURSELF. i know someone who didnt actually do any of the work and it made me so mad. but i knew that i put my effort and time into my project, so i know in my heart my project was 100% true.

good luck on your project! ive been there, so i know what youre going through. it takes alot of time and work (and recording those hours & getting stuff approved from your leader and council) but in the end, its definetely worth it :)

  4. What about working on *behalf* of animals, like undertaking an advocacy campaign to help your peers educate friends and families about:

-- the importance of spaying and neutering dogs and cats (thereby reducing the number of unwanted pets killed each year)

-- the importance of NOT buying animals from pet stores but, rather, adopting them from shelters, breed rescue groups, etc.

-- what responsible pet care looks like (not leaving a dog out on a chain for hours, never allowing your dog to ride "free" in the bed of a pickup truck, etc.)

-- options for people with problem pets (books, local courses, videos, etc.)

You could create a map of all the different organizations in your community that address any of these issues; you could help these organizations create MySpace and FaceBook accounts, if they don't have them already, and encourage your friends to link to such; you could create a series of video casts and pod casts addressing each of the above issues and posting them on your own account; you could interview the executive directors of various animal welfare groups and post summaries on your online profiles; and on and on and on.

  5. i have no idea how to answer your question but boy do i miss the girl scouts.  i am 38 years old and i still have about over 100 of my badges.
