Help...going to future bro-in-law's wedding on Saturday...?

My fiance's brother is having a small beach-like wedding this weekend. The wedding was supposed to be later, but they moved it up. They aren't registered as this was a bit more spontaneous. What should my fiance & I get them?? If cash, how much?

  1. If you do not know the colors of their home and style I would not get them any decor or anything like that. Gift cards are always a great choice but if you are wanting to go another rout I suggest getting them a couples romantic spa package at a nice spa or resort. That way they can use it whenever they want and enjoy a nice romantic evening together. The cheese, cracker, and salami basket is a good idea but they may not get a chance to enjoy it depending upon their plans after the wedding.

  2. A nice picnic basket with a bottle of wine, some salami and some crackers.

I did this for a friend and they loved it!!

  3. A gift card to Home Depot if they have a house; my ex and I got this as an anniversary gift and put it to great use.

If not, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. can always come in handy.

Either way, cash or gift card, $100 is a good amount for a gift.

    Have fun :)

  4. Sunblock, some ham & bread, and a 6 pack of RC colas

  5. You could either a. ask the bride or groom what they want or need, or b. give cash.

If you are giving cash, I would say first of all to give what you're able, but that $100 would be a good amount.

  6. How about a nice gift card to Target?  They have lots of nice houseware there, and it's a very popular place to register, so they likely would have registered there if they had more time to register before getting married.  A $100 gift card from the both of you would be very nice.

  7. cash. usually i give $100, but for my brother i gave $200

  8. $100 is my standby wedding amount (unless it's someone I'm very close to and I might give more). But you should give what you can afford.

Gift cards can be nice but I'm much more leery of buying those anymore. There are stores (Sharper Image for instance) that is no longer accepting gift cards and they can get away with it because they went bankrupt. So keep that in mind; if they don't use the gift card right away and something happens to that store, you have just wasted your money. In my opinion, it's always better to give cash. They can use it at whatever store they want.
