my tiny goldfish is sitting at the bottom of the 10 gallon tank and its fins are all clamped. i checked the water and it all tests excellent. this is a well established tank. only thing different is a slightly higher pH than usual ~7.8. i vacuumed the gravel and did water changes but it is still sitting on the bottom and seems to be more clamped now. i have had this goldfish for over 2 yrs and i can't figure out the problem...

  1. Does he have any other outward signs of illness? Skin, gills, and fins all look healthy?

Did you introduce any new fish recently?

There is a medication on the market called "quick cure" it is a broad medication that will treat a whole host of diseases. Many use this when experiencing your symptoms.

    Good luck

  2. If you don't have an account on Kokos Goldfish, you might want to get one and ask there.  It's free.  They have a 911 and emergency section.  Good luck.

  3. Sounds like a dissolved oxygen problem.  Try lowing the water level in your tank by 1 inch and allow the filter to dump water into the tank.  If it is a dissolved oxygen problem, he should perk up in a 1/2 hour.

Check your temperature as well.  Too warm will make your fish lethargic

    Keep an eye on him

  4. sorry to tell ya this but your fish is dead. but tap on glass ( i know your not supposed to do that.) but it might be dead so do that to check if its alive.

  5. Clamped fins is a sign of ammonia problems or parasites. Since you already did a water change I'm going to guess it's not ammonia. You will have to get some medication from the pet store. Jungle Parasite Clear is relatively good. Just follow the directions.

  6. idk maybe its his time
