  1. In Cancun...very little however it is very easy to take "away" tours from Cancun.

A bit touristy but fun is the "Jungle Tour" out of Sunrise Marina. Small individual speed boats cruise through the mangrove where you see all kinds of wild life and then go snorkeling on one of Cancun's reefs and motor back. The view of the hotel zone from the lagoon is wonderful.

Swim with "whale sharks". An amazing experience.

Isla Contoy is a bird refuge (mostly Frigget Birds) and it is out in an area where the Gulf of Mexico meet the Caribbean Sea. You can even pet an Angel Ray that just swims along the shore.

Like Flamingos? There is a flamingo refuge...in Holbox.

Most of my family and friends use this company and are highly recommended on Trip Advisor for tours:

Hope you have a great "getaway" vacation.

  2. In cancun . . . nothing!  Try going two hours south to Tulum, it's really nice and not as touristy as Cancun.

  3. Go to the boat dock where people pay $50 a piece to go on some cheesy cruise over to Isla Mujeras.  There will be locals with there own boats there.  For about $50-$100 they will take your entire group on there scary little boat over to the island.  They will take you snorkling in very secluded areas.  The guys that took us caught some fresh fish, then took us to there house where there mama made us a delicious lunch.  It was a wonderful day.

  4. I was just going to tell you to go visit Tulum... I just came back from there and it was a wonderful place to visit.
