Help having confusion?

Question

i have 2 cameras 1 is kodak c743 and the 2 is sony dsc-w120 which i have recently bought though the megapixel , optical zoom and digital zoom of my sony is greater than kodak but the kodak camera shows objects more closely

kodak

7.4 megapixel

3x optical zoom

5x digital zoom

sony

If you look at these cameras side-by-side, the Sony sure stacks up well against the older Kodak, doesn't it?

As your personal experience bears out, though, there are factors beyond the raw numbers that influence image quality.  In this case, I would suspect that the Schneider lens on the Kodak camera makes the difference.
