An urban legend tells of a lady who had been grocery shopping and who had purchased a tin of biscuit dough. It was a very hot day and she had left her groceries in the closed car while she did some additional shopping. Upon returning to her car she began to drive home. Suddenly the tin of biscuit dough exploded and a wad of dough struck her in the back of the head. She thought that she had been shot and upon placing her hand on the back of her had felt what she thought were her brains. Needless to say, she was much relieved to discover the truth. The Sodium Bicarbonate which acts as a leavining agent combines with acid in the dough to form Carbon Dioxide gas within the closed volume of the can. Assume that the formation of the CO2 gas doubled the original pressure in the can. Assume that the original temperature inside of the can was 2 degrees C and the pressure after the above described chemical reaction is 2 Atm. Assume then that the temperature inside of the can just before exploding was 60 degrees C. What was the pressure inside of the can just before exploding?
