Help help! my ipod touch wont charge, sync and it wont open up itunes!?

Question

plug it in, and it turns on, but it doesn't charge, open up itunes, or show up in itunes. i plugged it in with the same wire to my moms computer and it came up and charged fine. and ive tried all the diff usb ports on my computer., and when i plug it in, nothing comes up, but it does make the connected sound, but ive searched everywhere on my computer for it, and cant find it. i reallly really need help. PLEAE HELP!!! btw, im trying to avoid taking it back, or going anywhere to fix it. PLEASE HELP ME!

OK, This may help....

Turn the hold button on and off again.

Then how menu and the centre button until the apple icon appears....(do not worry you wont have lost anything)

Then after the apple logo goes, try plugging it into your computer.

that happend on my memory card for my phone. if you didn't do 'safely remove hardware' every time it can mess stuff up, this may have caused your computer not to recognize your ipod anymore :[

maybe a new wire? or re-install your itunes on your computer?
