Help homing pigeon can't fly?

this morning i found a pigeon who was a bit thin and couldnt fly.

i tried feeding it and it could not swollow. so i tried a bit a egg white. and it throw up knotted string.

its eating and had water now and looks alot more happy but still cant fly.

im not sure how to take care of it, any good websites would be wonderful.

and will it fly again? any tips and advice?

  1. take it to a vet! It may perfer worms to what you are feeding it. Try to wean it on bird food. If you don't want it then a rehabilitation ceanter may take it. Call this vet: (919)-844-9166

Most likely the pigeon is dehydrated, since it was reluctant to swallow and thin.  That's good that the bird is now eating (seeds?) and drinking, but you really need to get it to someone that is trained in caring for wild birds.  There are many reasons that it may not be flying.  It could only be debilitated from being thin, but it could have some other underlying medical reasons, like a fracture somewhere or an old injury.  Continue to keep it well fed and drinking, but contact a wildlife rehabilitator in your area promptly.  The pigeon may a have an illness, fracture or even parasites, and requires further medical attention in order to get him flying again.
