Question:

Help hooking up DVR and PS3?

My TV only has RCA (composite) in and a cable/antenna in hookup. As of now, My Rogers cable box is into my cable/antenna in, and my DVR is into my AV (RCA) in on the back of my TV. But now, I want to set up my PS3...which also requires the use of my AV (RCA) in on the back of my TV. Is there an efficient way to connect both the DVR and the PS3 given that my TV only has AV composite (red white yellow- RCA) in connections? thanks.

  1. You have a PS3 but a OLD TV set??

IT's TIME to get an HDTV set and give the old one to someone you hate.....not love....Hate.

You are definitely missing out now that you have a PS3.

Don't get a CHEAP switchbox,  You STILL have LOW DEF in the long run, and you're KICKING A DEAD HORSE there....

It's time to break the piggy bank.....

I know you love your money...you don't want to let it go. But it's the BEST investment you'll ever make in entertainment costs.....

Kinda like getting a s**y new girlfriend <snarf!>

  2. If your cable box or DBR has an auxiliary input you can plug the PS3 into, and then switch to that input for games. If those inputs are not available, an outboard switch box (Radio Shack) could do the trick.

    Cheers!

  3. Well see first if your DVR has a cable/antenna connection, as many recorders usually do, then you would hookup the cable from the wall to the DVR, from the DVR to the rogers box, and then from the rogers box to the TV.  When the rogers box is powered off, it will allow the signal from the DVR through to the TV.  If this is not the case, then you can also go to EB games and get an RF adapter for the PS3 for about $25.  Although I don't agree with how the previous answerer suggested it, I do agree that it is a bit of a sin to have such a nice piece of hardware not being taken full advantage of on a newer TV.  So when the budget allows, I recommend getting a new TV.  These days, LCD's have gotten very affordable, and you should be able to get something very nice for well below a $1000, or about double what you would have to pay for a PS3.
