  1. practice, Practice, PRACTICE!

  2. Upper body (esp. pectoral) workouts. remeber to punch from the hip and move you fist as straight as possible when you punch. You will loose energy if you curve your punch.

  3. its not just about muscle but also muscle memory so work on just punching and do push ups cuase they also work muscle memory for the punching technique. train ur biceps and triceps and even more difficult but train ur forearms. do push ups also with weights on u like wearing a heavy back pack and meditate like focus on one thing or nuttin . oh and take in more protein by eatin a little more meat [ if u go mcdonalds very little more meat but a good amount of grilled chicken always works] other than that hear r some punch techniques

close the hand on the last secomnd be4 impact like bruce lee and muhummad ali

on ur rear foot stand so ur heel is up so u can turn your heel in [like ali and lee once again]

dont wind ur fist back it telegraphs ur movements and make sure ur fist goes before the rest of ur body while maintaining balance because that makes them harder to catch. and i want u to punch with weights for speed. other than that general fittness may help.turn ur heel into the punches for increased distance and power.

aim for where the chin meets the jaw for a knock out and to get heavier hands u need to harden ur knuckles by piunching things it takes years

start with lightly hittin softer material and eventualy ull be able too hit stones and break em oh but don mess up ur knuckles or it will take a good mounth to 4 yrs too heal up if at all but slight pain is good but yeah knuckle hardening is tough and  well becareful

oh and visualize notpunching at but punching through the target

and understand u should pull ur hands bak quick in a fight

  4. No horse stance...lets not be silly this was a serious question so lets give a serious answer.  Pug paw has the right idea.  Right technique will really help.  Can Oscar dela hoya punch harder than a 300 lb muscular giant...maybe maybe not but he'll knock the giant out with a well delivered punch.

Think of it like this.  you take your best shot at someones jaw who is standing still or....you have them take a step towards you at the same time that you hit them. The second way will be twice as hard because your force is added to theirs because they are coming at you.  This is a way to punch twice as hard instantly.  How do you set this up? Boxing and many rounds of sparring.

Pushups will help your power as far as workouts go....and hitting the heavy bag.  Think speed instead of power because speed will turn into true power.

Punches are pecs, triceps, forearms, calves, thigh, abs.  But you might as well make it a full body workout.

  5. im not sure as far as workouts go, but i do know how u can work on getting your puch stronger. If you take a horse stance and throw straight punches from it, while focusing on rotating your hips as u punch this will make your punch much better(rotating hips = better punch). And if puch somehting a lot your kunckles will get harder. good luck, but don't focus on just the power of your punch cause what is the point if u miss your opponent or if the punch is so slow it is avoided, power isn't everything

  6. practice heaps.

try practicing withdifferent weights like you normally would use some heavy weights only do a few or get some light weights or no weights and do a lot or try doing it faster. also build up you shoulders and triceps.

  7. The best way to improve your punch is to just punch. Doing weights and other exercises may give you more strength but they do not simulate the punching movement. Better to go slow and get your body and mind to get used to the correct movements.  Powerful punches come from correct punching technique and having the body movement coordinated with the punch.  Punching power comes from doing everything just right, and it takes time to develop properly.

If you practice something incorrectly for 20 years you will get very good at doing it incorrectly. However, if you take your time and practice and correct as you go you will develop a good powerful punch in  a much shorter time.

  8. If your form is correct a lot of muscle groups go into your punches.  Your core is probably the most important, but your forearms, triceps, chest, legs, and back are all very important as well.  Start lifting weights and get an instructional DVD like Bas Rutten's Big DVDs of Combat.  Unfortunately some of it is genetic.  You've most likely heard the term "Heavy Hands" referring to someone with knockout power.  The term came about because people with KO power typically have large (heavy) hands, so if you have big hands you have a big advantage and vice versa.

  9. lol i dont think you can teach having power but i would try taking dumbells with some weight on it and punching the air like shadow boxing with dumbells in your hands

  10. Punching power comes from form and strength.  When you throw a punch you have to punch through your target.  A lot of people that train on bags train themselves to pull their hands back when they hit the bags.  This is not the way, you have to remember to punch through the bags, not to the bags.  Punching power is generated from your hips and legs.  If you watch Chuck Liddell throw punches he is always rotating his hips into his punches and using his legs to generate power.  As far as weight training goes, you should just do weight training that increases your overall body strength and not worry about doing specific lifting to increase punching power.  The power will come with the increased overall strength and perfection of form.  Also, do not forget about your core strength as this will deffinately improve your punching power.
