Help! i'm getting expanders today??

Question

in a few hours, i'll be having expanders put in for 5 months. how much should i expect them to hurt over this time? also, the orthodontist mentioned that i would have a lisp for a little while, and i'm starting school on monday. will the lisp be gone in 3-4 days?

the type of expanders is not the one where you have to turn them, they just stay in my mouth.

I had an expander on the top, and I couldn't talk right at all. Nobody could understand what I was saying, and I could never actually talk normally. I could talk kind of normal 2 months later. If you read a magazine or talk out loud it's a lot easier to get used to talking. Then again the expander I had turned so there might be a difference. I didn't hurt much at all, it was just annoying.

I used to have them. The lisp goes away after 2-3 days.

It doesn't hurt or anything.
