  1. belive it or not a crow is really smart and would make a good pet if you can find a baby or this years hatchling good luck

  2. hmm.. well my first thought is that you could take a bird out, nurse it back to health then keep it.. u know like throw a book at it or something. or  if u fancy a less mean option u might be able to go to a rescue centre or sanctuary and get one?

  3. bird are ment to be free dont get a bird. birds a are miserable in a cage

  4. taking a native bird from outside is not only CRUEL and  100% irresponsible, its also ILLEGAL!

if your dads workign and you wont have the time how the heck do you plan on raising this baby bird you are aparently planning to illegally take from the outside world and keep in a cage?!

"research" teaches you NOTHING...reading a book does not show you what to do if the bird wont take food from a syringe, it doesnt show you how to NOT drown the baby with formular, it doesnt teach you how hot the forumlar needs to be so that it can be propelry digested but not burn the crop...

Raising a baby bird is in no way shape or form EASY.

i hope...for all that is good and natural you DO NOT find any injured birds of a birds nest!

  5. it'd be cruel to find an egg & keep it.   if it was injured & u helped it that's fine but I think you'll just have to get lucky.

  6. Even if that was legal, which it isn't, a baby bird needs a whole lot more attention than an adult one (which is already a lot).  If you really researched enough, you'd know that a tiny baby will kill your social life and anything else you want to do because they have to be fed about every hour or however often you're supposed to feed them.  Yes, that includes when you want to sleep.  If you care about wild baby birds, you'll let their own parents take care of them because that's what they're made to do and they know how to do it well.

Also, if you find a hurt bird, what exactly do you plan to do with it?  Anything other than getting it medical care (which would be with a licensed wildlife rehabber) would be cruel and irresponsible.  They'd take the bird and not let you keep it, but you wouldn't be keeping it anyway because if you did, it would die painfully very soon.

  7. You probably shouldn't take baby birds from the wild. Try convincing your dad to let you get a parakeet. They are easy to take care of and still lots of fun.

  8. You can't take an egg, or a baby bird from the wild IT WILL DIE.

you will have to buy one from the pet store, and tell your dad you found it.

  9. You should really think twice about getting a bird.  Especially since you won't be around to take care of it part of the time.  I know its hard having your parents be separated but your dad will have a hard time taking care of a pet if you're not there.

If you need to have a wild bird, then you shouldn't do it because wild birds are exactly that wild and need to be in the wild if they are to survive correctly.  What your dad was trying to tell you I think was that the only way you could have a bird is if you rescued a wild baby bird that was hurt and this probably would not happen.

So in other words he is telling you that he really doesn't want to have one but he was trying to let you down easy by giving you the option of being able to have one that you need to take care of.

I included a couple of links about wild bird organizations that you might find interesting and helpful if you still want to go through with getting a wild bird to take care of.  It seems like what you should do is find a place that rescues wild birds and such and then volunteer to help take care of the birds.  Maybe this could be an option for you instead of actually getting a bird since you can't be around all the time to take care of it.

Good luck to you and I hope you decide whats best for you and the bird if you still want to get one.

  10. it would be more than extremely cruel if you took an egg from a nest (or a baby bird).

Also, the bird would more than likely /die/ in human care, unless those humans are specialists (like an avian rescue or something). You can't teach it to 'hunt' and you can't teach it to fly.

Moreover, your dad would probably not /actually/ let you keep the bird. He'd probably call a rescue, or once the bird is old enough, have you release it to the wild.

If your parents say no, then i wouldn't try to get one. Wait until you're older, sweetie. Then, you can have as many birds as you want, and you don't have to travel a lot, leaving your bird alone.

  11. Taking a wild animal from where it belongs even if it's hurt should be left to a wildlife reserve. I might have said the wrong type of place but....

And besides it wouldn't survive. Yould have to mush up worms and bugs and feed it. YUCK! Probabl would die.

Trust me, i tried saving a 6 or 7 day old baby bunny, and it dies 3 days later it died. I also did research (4 hours of it!) and gave it what it needed but that's how life goes.. :(

Ask if you can get one from the humaine society:):) You'd save a life!

    Hope i helped!,

  12. 99% of the time that people keep wild birds, they will die within a week, they are not meant to kept as pets and in just about every state it is illegal to keep a native wild bird.

  13. I say wait until you are old enough to care for one, you should not have to be forced into searching out 1 in the wild. I think your daddy gave you the wrong advise! I say get one from a breeder in your area and keep it at the house you live at and not one you simply go visit. And you need to talk to your mother about this too, and let her know what advise he gave you, to see what she thinks. But no you don't need a bird so badly that you have to go find one who is hurt in the wild. You could get all kinds of deseases doing that.

  14. It would be cruel to take a wild bird and keep it in your house, even if u let it go l8ter on,IT WONT HAVE SURVIVAL SKILLZ!
