Question:

Help! i cant sleep even when im sleepy?

i cant sleep even tho im sleepy, say, at 12am i get sleepy, i go in bed, and cant sleep til 5am maximum, till i c 5am on my clock, my brain wont shut down... how can i get a good sleeping patern?

  1. the same thing happens to me every day. what i do is if i need to take a shower, i usually wait till right before bed and then take a warm shower. then i do stay up and read a book or play a game till i get the "sleepy" tears where ur eyes tear up when ur tired. then i turn on a radio that's about 2 1/2 feet from my head on and put it on "sleep mode" and listen to soothing music and adjust the volume just so that i can barely hear it and when i close my eyes i try to imagine myself falling into darkness or picture a dream from the previous night.(that works the best) If i REALLY cant sleep then i make myself a warm cup of chamomile tea and drink it before i go to sleep.

  4. Well. It's the end of the summer. You probably stayed up late most of the time. The only way you can fix this is by continuing to try to go to bed at midnight (which seems to be your time of choice). Eventually you will pick up on it unless you have insomnia issues.  

  5. Do not take naps during the day - that just ruins your sleeping pattern.

    For dinner or before you go to bed, do not drink or eat anything high in sugar or caffeine - those will definitely keep you up.

    You must make a sleep schedule. It's best that if you fall asleep late you should wake up early anyway like you would if you slept early, so that for your next bedtime you will be able to fall asleep.

    Do not oversleep - ruins your sleeping pattern as well.

    Try to make your sleeping environment as comfortable as possible. Some people find it easier to fall asleep in the dark, with a nightlight, with the tv on, music playing, etc.

    If none of these works, check out your mattress. You might need one of those Sleep Number mattresses.

  7. lol... are u trying to get back into the system for school?

    well to get to sleep fastest when youre sleepy you ahve to turn off the lights and close your eyes, try and clear your brain then relaxx..

    But anyway when school starts and u sleep at 5 am. Youll only sleep for about 1 hour right? then you wake up and go 2 school for about 9 hours thens tay up till liek 9 pm. try and fight the sleep till then then jump inot bed and relax. then youre sleeping pattern will be rectified.

  8. If it seems to be a psychological thing about having to see 5am on your clock then set your clock ahead. If it's not that, then try waking up early, like say 7am, and then go through the day tired, and then you should be able to go to sleep at the time that you want to.

    Another cause could be stress though. If you are worried about something, then that may be keeping you awake. If that's the case then you need to deal with that first..

  9. Breath in with your nose letting all the air possible into your body and breath out with your mouth really slowly letting all the out out and keep repeating until you get sleepy. Also Try Some Yoga Before bed. =)  

  10. If mellow activities (reading) do not help, you can try eating a small bowl of cereal as a snack, I find the sugar and lactose help me.  If all else fails you can try an anxiolytic...but you'd have to talk to a doctor, and the insomia would have to interfere with your daily life.

  11. Have a sleep schedule, go to bed at 10, take .5mg of Clonazepam, it will relax your nervous system and you'll drift off, I used to have sleeping problems in college, now I just take that each night and Im fine.

  12. go to sleep before 10 thats when most peoples melatonin kicks in.  Also make it very dark in your room.  A good thing to do is read before bed, that always makes me sleepy.
