  1. if ur not serious i wouldnt get expencive im 13 and i bought all my clubs and my bag is worth around  $1400

    driver-$250

    3 wood-$200

    irons-$800

    putter-$150

  2. Go cheap until you decide whether or not you really want to take up the sport.  Go to a sporting goods store and see if you can buy a begginer set.  3/5/7/9/putter/driver/3 wood.  Even better, see if you can pick up a used set.  Try a thrift shop or look in the newspaper.  Once you decide to take up the game seriously, then look at buying quality equipment.  The previous responder's prices are too high if you aren't sure whether you want to take up golf.

  3. If you're not serious then why spend a whole lot of money on equipment.  You can get some nice equipment inexpensively by looking on ebay.  If you don't want to go that route, buy a brand at Wal-Mart.

  4. Look for an organization called the First Tee cuz if you join, they can hook u up with clubs for free.  I got a set of king cobras and a big bertha driver for free.   they rock.

  5. For cheap clubs for beginners, I'd take a look at thrift stores and yard sales. There are always golfers at yard sales getting rid of old sets, and I've seen some very good clubs at the Salvation Army. In any of those cases, take along a friend who knows something about golf. He or she will be able to steer your away from lesser quality brands.

And then there's Ebay. StealGolf.Com ( http://www.stealgolf.com ) is a good place to view the Ebay listings sorted by brand and club type. Only major manufacturers are listed here.

If you go any of those routes, you should be able to get into a set for under $150.
