  1. Do research and find out where there are an abundance of companies in your field are at. Greatly consider relocating and like one mentioned, volunteer to gain hands-on experience or even state how u applying your skills to the kids in the neighborhood has made a difference and give some neighbors as reference.

Also, get involved in your local school as a mentor or even look into different fields besides teaching, mentoring, brother/sister, ymca, ywca, after-school care, daycare, social services, child protective services, teen detention. I believe all those require the degree that you have. Don't give up on ur dreams as your abondonment means that there will be an inbalance for that particular area. Think about if everyone quit, what would happen to the little people that needs you.

Thanx a million for your decision and good luck.

May blessings come your way in abundance.

  2. Try the YMCA if there is one there.

  3. like another poster said, try the ymca and the chains (la petite, childtime, tutor time, kindercare, etc).  it's daycare but it's experience and you can apply for assistant director or director positions.

have you thought about relocating?  here in va they are really in need of teachers.  just a thought.

  4. Sorry to break the bad news to you but you won't be making much $ or have much luck in finding a job in that field. I actually got my Bachelor of Arts in EC Edu. and I was in the same boat many years ago. I taught preschool for a while but needed to make more money. All teachers are underpaid in my opinion but the $ was just not there for me. I went into real estate and am making very good money now since I sell foreclosure properties. I used my knowledge from school towards raising my son and just being around kids in general. Expand your horizons and keep your options open for something else if you truly don't have your heart set on ECE. Good luck.

  5. Congratulations on your degree.  If you have no previous work experience, it might help to work or volunteer part time for an organization in the field you want, while you continue searching for a career job.  This will look good on your resume.  You are planning to proceed toward a bachelors degree, aren't you?  Your local or state school board can give you requirement information for teaching jobs.  Good luck!
