  1. How long have you been riding for?

If you are new to the sport 250cc will be heaps but go with 4 stroke much more user friendly.

If you have had bikes for a while like ive had i went up to ae 450cc yamaha and i have never looked  back. i wood  never  go small again. i just bought ae 450cc quad.  Once you get use to the power you will love it. I wood take one for a ride 1st before you by one. It is a must test ride.

Depends on how fast you want to go or how fast you are capable of riding.

  2. how long have you been riding? if never, get a Honda CR125, its 2-stroke and in the same racing class as a 4-stroke 250, they're good learner bikes, AND they have enough power to satisfy you when you are more experienced. However, 2-Strokes require a special breed of rider, who can keep it in it's powerband. But they are cheaper to rebuild and since they are Honda, they last a LONG time. I'm 200lbs and 5'9" and mine has Plenty Of Power for me, i can get it to around 70mph if i push it hard, don't worry about speed though(not kidding).

  3. If it is your first dirt bike a 250 is all the bike you need. Any of the 3 major US brands will be a good choice, so just aim for the low dollar one. After a year or two you will want a bigger one if you last that long,,lol
