  1. Start with an RN.  Then you can find a job and generally most hospitals will have a tuition assistance program to help as you gain your BSN.

Call up your local hospital and ask to speak with the VP of Nursing or a Nurse Manager in the Operating Room.  Or....speak with the people in Volunteer Services.  Most hospitals have programs where they allow student 'shadows' with nurses for a day or so.  Ask Operating Room nurses your questions.  Another great resource is your family physician.  If he works in the hospital, he can be a great asset in connecting you with resources and people to talk with.

  2. My daughter just graduated from Hight school also. What she did was inroll in a cna program. She already started work. She will be going to a local community college this fall for her RN.. She will still work part time while going to school. Noble profession. Also My wife is an RN for 30 yrs plus. One thing is to talk to a few ppl that works in the Health care maybe they can give you a few pointer in schools etc. Hope it a help a bit  Good Luck !

  3.   You shoulpursueue the BSN , more and more hospitals are looking for that

As for specializing, and you are a senior in high school

it is almosy impossiblele to choose this early

while you are in school, you will the opportunity to rotate through

all the areas in the hospital

then and only then you will know for sure

esp if you love ppl and enjoy them, a surgical nurse has very little opportunity to speak to their patients.

Don't even worry about it at this point, just get good grades

and get into a nursing program you will have 4 years to figure out your specialties
