  1. Well,  you know that similar charges repel,  so the third answer has to be wrong.

    And there can be positive ions with more protons than electrons and negative ions with more electrons than protons,  so the first answer has to be wrong.

    That leaves answer two and that's correct.   An atom and ion of the same element have the same number of protons.   They can have a different number of electons.
