Help i think i twisted my ankle but i am not sure? help!?

on thursday i fell off the beam at gymnastics. and i think i twisted my ankle but i am not sure. an di have a competition coming up what do i do?

  1. R  =rest, don't walk on it

    I   =ice, ice pack 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off

    C  =compression, wrap it with an Ace bandage

    E  =elevation, lie on the sofa with your ankle on a pillow to make it higher than your heart

    RICE is the classic remedy for such injuries.  All the suggestions help to reduce swelling which speeds healing.  Do not apply heat- that causes swelling.  And if it is hurt too badly, see a doctor and skip your competition.  Lots a competitions in your future, so don't risk a really bad injury.  Good luck.


  2. If you can walk on it, it's likely you just twisted it and didn't break it.

    Keep your feet up as often as possible, use a compression bandage (not too tight!) and ice it for 15 minute intervals (wrap the ice pack in a towel).

    Even if it's not twisted, this will help.  I did twist my ankle earlier in the summer and suffered a lot longer than I could have if I'd just done what I mentioned here!
