  1. My sis just got a ticket 2 days ago in Mo. for going thru a yellow light. She had seen several different cop cars at various lights but still ran thru a yellow light and got busted. She should of took that as a sign. Hopefully something good will come out of this like keeping another from doing the same thing. A accident could of happened or someone killed all because your in a hurry well she sure didn't get there faster. And now its gonna cost some money that she could of spent on GAS or FOOD! So stop and think about what can happen all because your in a bit of a hurry.

  2. I did it several times, but haven't gotten in trouble. Most of the time it was because I went through a yellow, and I had to or else I'd be blocking the intersection. So like you said, just be careful!

  3. We all, as humans, make little errors or omissions on a daily basis. Hopefully you learn from running that red light, that you should be observing well before you actually get to that intersection in order to anticipate the possibility of an amber light. Scan as you approach any traffic light.....to observe any hazards, cover your brake just before you enter the crosswalk area, a couple of car lengths back from it.....and then once you reach that point where you can no longer safely stop, then proceed while scanning for hazards.

Driving is a full time activity and requires constant vigilance. Anything can happen at any time.

If you are a newer driver with less than 5 years experience, you have a lot to learn about the possible actions of other drivers/pedestrians/cyclists, etc., and the danger they can put you in also.Sometimes at busier intersections there is a wee camera on top of the light so the Traffic Dept. can view any congestion and change the configuration of the lights, or view what is happening at any given point in time.

Other times it is a "timing" signal which busses and some other vehicles use to extend the green light to maintain scheduling.

Other times you may have a Red Light Camera installed at high crash rate intersections, for enforcement purposes.

In general, if you are approaching a traffic light which is green, say to yourself "I can stop, I can stop, I can stop" until you reach that point where you say "I can't stop".....which is when you would continue if the light then turned amber.

When making right or left turns at traffic lights however, you MUST STOP if your front bumper is behind the crosswalk or stop line when that light turns amber.

    I hope that helps

    Think and Drive......

  4. No speed camera or no police.........you got lucky, drive safer and slower.

The sensor is likely used by emergency vehicles like ambulances and police cars..
