Help identify this 'thing'?

I was bit by somehtiong. It looked like a lady bug, but it had a black body, with red dots on it's back. HELP! What was it?

  1. oh dear it may well have been a Harlequin Ladybird;

    they are very aggressive and eat other ladybirds, they are not native; they have escaped from commercial greenhouses and are now spreading across england.

  2. It is a ladybird only a Harlequin one and I think it is one of the invasive ones, not native to the UK.

  6. Adult ladybugs, or ladybird beetles, are typically a brick red or orange with black markings. But some are black, often with red markings.

  7. A ladybug.  They come in various colours and sizes.  Some of them bite, but it's harmless.
