I was told it's a close relative to the mimosa, and in the same family, only it stays small. It looks just like normal mimosa trees. Any ideas?

  1. Calliandra surinamensis, the Surinam Powderpuff tree is shorter than the Silk Tree but has the compound leaves and lovely flowers and is a relative.

The Latin for the mimosa or Persian Silk Tree is Albizia. The most common garden tree with pink fluffy flowers is A. julibissin but Albizia julibrissin rosea is a bit smaller or more compact than the other cultivars.
