Just for the heck of it.. I don't have a photo or anything but it is in my backyard always close to the wild strawberries. The plant is about 12 in. high and the flower is a light blue and about the size of a penny. There are actually only 2 petals on top and that is it, so I figured since it looks so different than other flowers it would be easier to identify without a picture.

  1. It could be  -

    1) Collinsia verna (Blue eyed Mary)

    2) Iris cristata (Crested Dwarf Iris) or

    3) Lobelia siphilitica (Great Blue  Lobelia) or it could be

    4) Commelina communis ( Dayflower)

Google the images to see if one of these plants resemble the one in your backyard.

There are subspecies of the plants mentioned above... so if its not one of these... then it might be one of the subspecies of these plants.

(Took a lot of time for me to narrow down the choices! Phew! Hope I helped!)

  2. dayflower or spiderwort
