Question:

Help identifying leaves?

For a science project I'm doing, I have to identify some leaves/plants found around my area. (Massachusetts.)

Does anyone know any sites that can help identifiy various leaves, and the trees/bushes they come from?

Thank you.

  1. The first link is limited to conifers.  Assuming you also have some broad-leaved trees around you, try this link:  http://www.oplin.org/tree/

Even this site is limited to mostly trees - single-stemmed plants that generally get over 20 feet tall at maturity.  And many may not be from your immediate area.

Use this website:  http://www.enature.com/home/  to double-check your identifications and to look for non-tree plants.  Just eneter your zip code, and on the results page in the "resutls" box, switch to "trees" which also has photos and information about trees and shrubs in your area.

  2. Try this:

    http://www.nearctica.com/trees/conifer/i...

    Go here all the time.

  3. Go to a nursery in your area.  Take pictures. The genus and species of each plant is on each plant's tag.
