  1. my suggestion would be just try & do it your own way then when u can do it your way do it the way the instructor did it & not a bad job getting to grade 5 :)  spin on the part of the blade by the toepick sorry forgot the name

  2. Don't worry about not doing two foot spins on the first day. The figure is only about getting used to spinning and stepping on the rocker of the blade, not to do 20 revs on it at the worlds.

The real challenge will be when you start learning the one foot spin which takes forever to get used to. You'll be fighting with that figure for the next year and a half.

  3. Remember to give it all your force when you start it.

Try doing a pivot or some sort of pushing off on the ice to help get speed going, because just standing there dosent usually get you very far.

Use your arms to also start your spin, as you a beginner, don't feel dumb swinging your arms heaps before you start spinning, it helps, but remember to tuck then in again, tightly, when you start spinning, like your holding a teddy bear.

On your blades there is a certain spot where you can spin really easily on, try that. To find it, put one foot on the ice and twist it on diffrent parts of the blade at a time, its the part that moves the easiest, but usually this is better for one foot spins. Its at the front of the blades, almost near the toe pick.

Remember to not lean on your toe pick this will stop you and even trip you over.

Keep your body straight like there is a string pulling you up.

Also keep in mind that although a two foot spin is basic, it can take some people a long time to get it, but keep practicing, ask your coach for tips, watch the videos on youtube and eventually you will get it!

    Good luck, and happy skating!

  4. Stand straight then bend ur knees and pull ur hand really tight.

  5. I was stuck with my 2 foot spin for 5 months! Hehehe... Just make sure you dont lean backwards too much. That is probably my only advice. All u have 2 do is practice, practice, practice! Dont worry if you fall on your butt! It happens a loT..

  6. hah oh man it's been 10 years since i was worrying about 2 foot spins, been skating since '98. uh just pull your arms in i guess, don't worry about it too much because 2 foot spins aren't that important.
