Help! im 13 and how do i ask my mom to let me shave my legs?

okay, so i'm indian, which means ALOT of leg hair. i feel disgusted of myself it looks like i have man legs! and its black!!! so once i finally got the courage to say, hey mom, can i try using veet? she just stared at me and was like ARE YOU CRAZY?NO! then a few seconds later: and aren't you too young?? and i said: no mom! almost everyone in my class does! (then i gave soo many examples of people she does kno) and she just nodded her head in a "ok" motion...i was confused and stoped talking about it, i regret doing that SO MUCH. so anyways, then another time me and her were sitting alone on the couch watching tv, and a veet commercial came on, i was like mom, why do you not like veet? shes like i dont not like veet, and i said okay then i want to try it and she just starred at me like im a weirdo. yet idk why i don't mention shaving, i just mention veet, only twice. and once we were on vacation with some friends and she started shaving her legs when she was 11! and she gets her eyebrows done, and shes gonna start waxing her arms ( i dont wanna do any of that except shave my legs) so anyways, i told my mom that shes gonna start waxing her arms and she was like, i don't understand why you girls want to do all these things so early! and i was like what?! and she said things like shaving your legs and i said wat do u mean? almost everyone in my class shaves! and she said, yeah i bet. and then i asked her, okay when did u start shaving? and she said i dont remember, sometime in high scool! but i remember when i was like 11, i asked her how old and she said when she was 14, freshmen year. she always tells me WHY DON'T YOU EVER WEAR CAPRIS?? and she even made me buy two that i was forced to wear twice on vacation and they costed 40 dollars!!!! and so today she asked me in the mournin to wear capris and i said no cause my legs are ugly and she said what do u mean? ur legs are so pretty! HOW DOES SHE NOT NOTICE THE DISGUSTING, LONG, BLACK, THICK, HAIR! and so just now she was like do u still have the tags and stickers? i'll return it. and i didnt have them but i searched and found some for one of my capris and she can return it. but i want to wear capris but the hair is so nasty. i reaaaaally want to shave before school starts. which is in a week....so PLEASE help me fast how i can ask without chickening out. i know the worst she can say is no i just cant bring myself to ask for some reason. its horrible!

just take her razor.... you shouldn't have to ask.

well im 12,and  shave. . just camly ask her. tell her it will make u feel more confident and u thinks it time.

and if she shaved her legs at that age. bring that fact of "well you did it when u were my age."

The rule in my house is once you have your period, you can shave your legs.  Just tell your mom that you are old enough and it is causing embarrassment.  I do know however that when my kids give me the whole "everyone" else is doing something bit, I tend to say no, just because they don't need to be followers.

I know how you feel.  I'm kind of hairy too.  Just talk to her and tell her that it would make you feel better about your self if you could shave.  Ask her if you could just try it at least once so she can see what they look like and she can make her decision as whether or not you should continue shaving or not.  I mean, it is leg hair.  It's unattractive and you're a teenager.  Just try and explain it to her.

My mom wont let me veet either because she says she doesn't like the chemicals in it.

next time u and your mom are in the same room and ur like reading a mag or something that has a razor ad in it and say to ur mom can i please try to shave my legs i really don't like having to go around in public with hairy legs thats why i never want to wear shorts or capris. the show her your legs and maybe she will understand.

i don't shave myself yet but i am hoping to try to ask my mom tomorrow because i want to shave before school to.

p.s i'm 12 going into 7th grade

haha same problem here im indian too

well what i did is im like "mom, my legs look like a gorilla" and she agreed with me, but still doesnt let me shave. and then she said that i could try waxing (well i had to for a pageant) and i do it every s often. just ask, and you might be hearing a yes

and also ive been asking if i coud use eet like everytime we go to target and she FINALLY said that i can once the hair grows back from my previous wax :P i told her everyone at school shaves too and so she let me wax (ive only done it twice) and so i think im gonna go tget veet next time :P

Tell her she's gotta let you grow up sometime. And that your a TEENAGERRR. or just do it. its really not a big deal so just go ahead and do it.

Thats a sad story. But what I do to get things I want is do EVERYTHYING that you are told to do and after you do sometype of good deed, ask her in a very polite manner. And confident of course =] E-mail me on how it works out! =]

Ask her calmly why she doesn't want you to shave your legs. Did she have a bad experience with it? Is it a custom not to? Tell her that you will buy all the supplies needed. Try to remind her about the times when she was your age. Tell her how self conscious and uncomfortable you are about your leg hair. If she still doesn't let you shave, just wait until you are 14. Don't shave without her knowing because then you might get in trouble.

Just say it.  Simple as that.  "Mom, I want to shave my legs."  Then if she says no, do it anyways. You're young, you're supposed to rebel.  You at least tried to be mature about it and ask first.

I'm Mexican-American and grew hair on my legs beginning in elementary school.  Now that I've got a daughter of my own, I can relate to the hairy legs issue.  She'll be in the 6th grade and I have used Nair on her legs about 3 times.  I've used it especially during the summer.  Very quick and painless.  Really talk to her and show her the replies to your question.  My mother-in-law and mom didn't agree with what I've done.  But, times are different now and many girls do not have body hair.  I think it's a cultural issue.  But, girls are mean and they will tease kids who've got so much body hair.  Stay calm and she might be more flexible.

Explain to her that you are embarrassed by your legs and really feel that shaving them is a good decision.

Getting a bit teary eyed wouldn't hurt your chances, either ;)

If you shaved your legs without your mom knowing she may be mad for a little while but she will get over it.  What is the worst that can happen? She ground you? Oh well!!! Your hair is gone!!! and there is nothing she can do about it.  Ask her if you can, tell her it is making you feel sad and start crying.  Tell her you feel like an outkast.  I think your mom is having issues with you growing up.  She feels like you are getting older and she doesn't like it.  But you need to shave because hair is gross.

lol...i started shaving my legs wen i was like 15.. i wasnt allowed to either.. i asked my mom wen i was like 13 wen can i shave my legs and she said never.. and den i asked my dad and he said soon..loll. but wen i was like 15 i asked my dad agian and he said no.. but i did it anyway cuz i dont FREAKIN CARE..lol.. like wat the heck are they gonna do..lol.. but ya my mom still doesnt know i shave my legs..lol.. and im 16..lol

haha wow i doubt its that bad but if you really want to ur gonna have to be all mature and find out exactly why she doesnt want you to shave and you dont have to start out using veet i used veet and it gave me a bad rash and cuts cause the spongey thing is really rough so id start out with shaving GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!! lol hope i helped....
