  1. u should probab;y get a Rome board, possibly a Rome Label board.  Um... for the binding u should invest in some Burton Bindings, and same for boots, Burton.  overall this will cost about $500, but make sure u like the sport enough to invest in all the gear.

  2. i would go with a forum, possiblly a "recon" model it is a great board...east to learn on, and with bindings i got it for about $250,then i would just get some cheap board boots, mabye 25-50 dollar ones.then i got my helmet for just about 10 $  so all that adds up to possibly short of 300.which to me was a great bargan

  3. Before you actually buy a board think about whether you're growing or not.  If you're still growing and won't be riding every weekend it's not worth it to get a board because you'll grow out of it.

If you're still super green it might be worth renting a few more days and then when you can do a run or two without falling then buy an intermediate board, rather than bothering with a beginner deck or getting a board too far beyond your skills.

The cost of a setup will be at absolute least $300, but I'd recommend spending at least $500 to make sure you have quality gear that will last you a few seasons.

What should you get?  You pretty much answered it yourself - board, bindings, boots, helmet & goggles.  Talk to some employees at a board shop (not just a sporting goods store) and they usually ride and can tell you more about what you need specifically and what'd be best for you.

To find out when the mountains close just google them, it should be right on their websites.

  4. i bought everything for 700$... but you can get less xpencive sfuff...

K2 is good 4 starting... get a flexible one and make sure its light...

if you want to snowboard (freestyle) as free as possible without thinking about destroing the board just get a second hand 1 form ebay... then when you ve got the hang of it get a really good one like burton - nitro or a banana lib tech

  5. depends ,, i love LAMAR ! but burtons are greeat boards too

    um depends normally a board 200 , my boots were 70 but i got huge feet ( 12 foot ) um glowes - 5 - hat - 2 goggles - 10

    thats about it .... have fun ! snowboarding isnt a sport ! its a ******* thrill !

  6. u should rent 4 the 1st year u may spend money & break ya neck............ then what

  7. After my first day of snowboarding, i went out and spent $1,200 on all new gear so I know how you feel.

As far as the gear goes, if you're a bargain hunter, you should be able to snag up some cheap gear on ebay or at your local sporting goods store.

Since you're a beginner, you'll want to get cheap, but decent, gear. You can expect to pay

    $75-100 - Bindings

    $75-100 - Boots

    $30-50 - Helmet

    $20-40 - Gloves

    $100-300 - Board

Depending on what it is you ultimately get will impact the costs obviously however, I would recommend Burton stuff. Burton is king of the snowboard industry so you can't go wrong with that stuff. Check ebay since the season is pretty much over and people will be looking to ditch their old gear for cheap.

  8. I live in SoCal 2! and every thing might cost you about $1000 or more , Or if your lucky less, But it really depends on what you get and when you get it.

    Boards can cost $200 - $600

    Helmet $50 - $150

    Bindings $100- $300

    Boots $75 - $300

Those are the price ranges. But like i said it depends, you could go to Play It Again Sports and find stuff for super cheep. or stuff can go on sale. all my gear together cost $700 but i got alot on sale! So I recommend going around late march early April to get stuff on sale , but since march is over and April is almost over i would check out sports chalet or on the web.

Here is sport chalet web site: http://www.sportchalet.com/home/index.js...

Here is sports authority's web site: http://www.sportsauthority.com/home/inde...

and Play It Again Sports web site: http://www.playitagainsports.com/

And for parks, Mammoth is open till June or so they say on the site. Mammoth is 6-7 hours away from LA. I was just there in march , it was awesome! I wish I could go again this season but we don't have time. But I'm getting the season pass for 08/09 for only $585! its a great deal, and the deal only last for 3 more days  then it gose back up to $1300. so if you think you might be snowboarding a lot and you think you will go to mammoth a lot then i would recommend getting one!

Here is the mammoth web site: http://www.mammothmountain.com/index.cfm

I'm not sure if big bear is still open , but it is great there to! only 2 hours from Orange County. And there is Mt. high , Mt. High is only 90 minutes from LA, But again I'm not sure if there still open.

Here is Bear mountain web site:http://www.bearmountain.com/index_winter...

And here is Mt. high web site: http://www.mthigh.com/

    Hope this helped!

    Good Luck and have fun!
