  1. You could try a email to Dr. Scott. He has public web mail for such questions and answers. doctorscotts@yahoo.com

    Good luck.

    ( Connie Mom of 4 )

  2. Did he injure himself, get hit with something?  I'm sure it's nothing or something minor.  The doctor might check for testicular cancer, but your son is very young for that.  I wouldn't worry too much, you don't want to scare your son, and he'll pick up on your anxiety.  Good luck!

  3. I wouldn't worry about the doctor being a female. I'm sure she has the proper knowledge: she probably knows more about males than most guys do themselves.

Sadly, I can't offer any advice about the problem. I can't say I've ever experienced any prolonged pain. Sorry!

  4. I have a little.. My ex husband had some issues with his testicles.. a good Dr will  take a look and a discreet feel to see if there is anything noticeable wrong (like maybe one of them has been rammed up into his abdomen or injured)  then she "Should" order an ultra sound to make sure there isn't a contortion <spelling on that?>

This is going to be rather hard for him i think..  Maybe you could explain about female exams and that everyone has to bite the bullet now and then... that the Dr has seen it all before..  you know draw on something you yourself are acquainted with... :S hope that helps a little and good luck at the Dr.

  5. I'm not a mother or anything, but I'm a guy, and if he goes, he will remove his garments and she will make sure things are ok. If nothing shows, she may run tests. But if the pain is bad enough, I'm sure he will comply.

  6. The boy needs a male doctor--this is not rocket science, Mom.

  7. would he be happier with a male doctor? Get an appointment with one. But just asure him a female doctor has seen it all

  8. First things first, you have to assure him to the best of your ability that his doctor is there to help him and it's not going to be something that will be made fun of.

There are a few thing that I know of that it could be.

    Infection of the testicles

    Fluid in the testicles

    Abdominal Infections

No matter what, he definitely needs to see a doctor because it could be (worst case scenario) something that could affect him permanently.

I hope all turns out well.  Remind him he's not the first person to have pain in his testicles.

  9. Testicular pain is also the sign of a hernia. I know, I've had 2 operated on about 5 years ago. Tell him the doctor will feel them for lumps, with gloves on of course, and you will be right there behind him ( literally if thats more comfortable for him) However, explain to him that this could be serious and you've seen it before. Its more important to get this fixed than worry about being embarrassed. The doctor sees penises all day long.

When they checked me for my hernias, the doctor goes up through the s*****m and feels the muscle for holes or tears. This will freak him out.(not sure if they do this for boys) You'll need to be there, as this is done standing up, and flat footed on the floor. ( I still cringe) I would keep this to yourself until the doctor sees him. Does he have any lumps on his lower pelvis, above the p***s, that go away when he lays down? I did. But the pain always went straight to my testicles, like a sharp kick.

They may want to sonogram him for damage, injury, etc. That is a good thing. Is he swollen or red there? These may be signs of damage or infection.

Tell him we wish him good luck. Every Dad or boy reading this knows how you feel and how awkward this is.
