  1. Try this one.**caution, very graphic though!!**

    http://www.meat.org

Bookmark it. Everytime you get the urge, click on it. Good luck, I am new to this as well, but it gets easier by the day. If you haven't read it yet, you might want to read Skinny B*tch as a good motivator. It really kick started my lifestyle change.

  2. I'm not a vegetarian, but all I know is that to help stay a vegetarian, just tell yourself, "Stay away from meat," and soon, you will automaticlly stay away.

  3. Everyone has extreme urges when just starting off. I recommend slowly easing off meat instead. Start with your normal intake of meat, decrease it by one each day. So slowly, you're down to no dead animals, and you no longer have cravings. I quit cold turkey [no pun intended] because of the Meet Your Meat video. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you Google it, then watch it, that should instantly put you off meat.

Every time you go to eat meat, think of the insane torture that animal has been through [boiled alive, thrown into cramped cages by cruel workers, being ripped away from their young and likewise their parents before they are weened] That should totally put you out of the mood.

  5. If you want to eat meat, fulfill that urge.  It might make your next attempt to being a vegetarian more stronger.  You need to truly be in a certain mindset to follow a diet based on your beliefs.  I don't think it is easy, so forgive yourself for slipping..if you do.

  6. dont bother....the animals on the video arent going to be saved by u not eating the lunch meat in your fridge. u need protein and humans preying on animals is natural.

  7. I think your approach is all wrong. To ensure that any eating plan goes according to plan, you need to have the right nutrition. You can't just cut out a whole food group and expect to succeed. This is the main reason that so many people fail to change their eating habits, for whatever reason, in the long term.

My guess is that you are craving meat because your body is running out of its stored protein and you aren't replacing it very well. For all its other problems, meat IS a very efficient way to get protein, and protein is absolutely necessary for everything about your health. In such case, load up on beans and rice, peanut butter, or dairy products, as well as fruits, veggies, and good old water...you know...a healthy diet. Skip the junk for right now because they tend to induce cravings of other kinds (caffiene, salt, sugar, fat) and since you have meat on the brain lately, you may misunderstand your signals and have a burger. Then, instead of guilt tripping yourself with torturous documentation of animal cruelty, try to distract yourself with some relaxation (because you seem to be under stress about all this) stuff like yoga or a bath, or a workout, and thinking about how healthy you will be in the coming months...or think about something completely different than food like your boyfriend or your fav band or call a friend and chitchat.

You can also try any number of TVP or soy based meat substitutes, like veggie burgers, "not dogs" and imitation chicken nuggets. Be warned though...I don't know if that would make you hungrier for the real thing. It kind of seems about as satisfying (and so close it's a temptation) as an alcoholic having a virgin margarita.

It sounds like you are a good person with your heart in the right place. You know what happens to the animals, and since you are taking steps about it, there is NO sense mulling over it and getting all depressed. You can take heart that you are doing your little part to help ease animal suffering. That is not a gesture worthy of punishing yourself. It would be, as they say, preaching to the choir.

  8. Maybe you should start thinking about positive motivations rather than negative motivations? I find it more motivating to think about how much better stuff tastes and how much better I feel without meat.

  9. ah thats terrible, why would you want to read something like that??

just relax and think about not eating meat!

ha two days, its only gunna get harder, and then easier trust me

  10. check out the peta website. or look up videos on you tube. but be warned...they're pretty graphic and sad.

  11. You are so kind to animals. I hope your life is full of happiness.

  12. why the heck would u not want to eat meat thats why people raise cows and chickens, FOR U TO EAT THEM!! plus i dont think its healthy not to eat meat, thats where u get protien! anyway if you really want to b a veggie person then keep trying and eat some chocolate. chocolate makes everything better. idk.

  13. Okay, calm down.  And use your spell check.  You are no different from anyone else kicking an addiction.  It's like kicking cancer sticks or alcohol or any other drug.  You're kicking the nasty meat habit.  Remember the reason(s) you decided to go vegetarian and keep thinking about what led to your decision.  If you don't have a vegetarian starter guide yet, Google those words and find an organization that can send one to you.  Most can get it to you in four to six weeks.  In the meantime, keep checking out the sites that offer VSGs for info.

And if you slip, don't beat yourself up; just hop right back on that wagon and try again.
