Help im locked out and i cant get in?

Question

My 97 Mercury villager has acuired a mind of its own and now tends to lock me out if im not careful. There is a keypad for keyless entry on the door but i dont know the code since it was bought from a friend who salvaged it. I know the keypad works because when you press the buttons the interor light come on and the keypad lights up. how would i go about changing the combination without getting an entirly new security system

Ask your friend who sold you the car or get AAA if there is no better answer.

The dealership should be able to get you the code or codes that you need and if that fails then you could call the vehicles manufacturer and ask them for assistance.
