I started playing tennis last year and Im good but not that good. I cant find a coach or anybody in my area to help me. Im very good at services but my returns are weak and so are my lobs and volleys. How can I get better? I can only go to the tennis courts about once every two months. Maybe not even that often. I need to get better so when I get into ninth grade, I could play for school or something, but I dont know how. How can I get better?

  1. Ask some friends to walk with you to the tennis courts, or even bike if you have to. Are there any high schools near you? They usually have tennis courts open to the public after school. Good luck.

It is good to practice with the wall as a beginner, but after that, I wouldn't recommend you to. It's also a good warm up (5-10 min.) You'll find many balls sailing long when you're on the real court if you continue to practice with the wall for long periods of time. I did this myself. I thought hitting with the wall can only help me to become a better player. Turns out I hit the ball TOO hard, resulting in balls that land out of the court. Now I have to string at a higher tension, which also hurts my arm. Playing against a wall is ood to practice your strokes with, not good when it comes to learning to control.

  2. try riding your bike to some local public tennis courts. i have 3 all of them within 2 miles of my house. look for a big wall to hit it off of so you can work on hitting it harder. just keep practicing and youll get better. the wall really helped me.

  3. I agree with gymnast, pratice hitting with the wall. Also, If you know anyone that plays tennis, ask them to hit with you for the practice, just pure fun and impovement. Also, ask others who play tennis who their coach is and ask for suggestions on coaches.
