genetic disease cytistic fibrosis includes deletion of 1 amino acid from the protein CFTR. W/o amino acid, CFTR cannt function because it.......

a. cannot carry oxygen

b. produces mucus

c. is folded in a way that is different from normal CFTR

d. has a different charge than normal CFTR

.... i think that the answer is C but am not so sure so please help

  1. Is there an E "all of the above" b/c the change in the tertiary structure could also mean that it cannot carry O2. I also looked it up and y*d mucous is a side effect of CFTR. Different charge for D- I think also possible..

    But usually mutations are about always folded different from original ones its just the function of the misfold that is the big dif. Can it still function prop. or not ??

  3. this is a disease in which connective tissue develops in various glands of the body particularly pancreas.this is also caused by a recessive gene which transmits like an albino gene.only homozygous individual for thr recessive gene produce this condition which is ususally fatal.i too think that c is the right one.
